Uno de mis temas favoritos de Tina Turner, un discreto primer éxito de su etapa más prolífica, cuando en 1983 firmó con Capitol Records y en 1984 publicó este single de apertura para el disco “Private Dancer”, que la consagró como la leona de los 80 y demostró que era la cuarentona con las piernas más atractivas del panorama musical.

Por aquel entonces, Tina Turner no parecía interesar mucho en Estados Unidos, así que se concentró en potenciar sus apariciones por Europa, consiguiendo con este tema (que es una versión del clásico de Al Green), un puesto 6 en las listas británicas.

De esta manera volvió a casa logrando que “Let’s stay together” fuese un TOP 20 y estuviera nominada a un Grammy como “Mejor actuación R&B”. En las propias listas R&B llegó al puesto 4 y a un triunfal puesto 1 de la listas Billboard Dance/Club Play.

Así es como los de Capitol Records le hicieron más caso y le dejaron grabar su quinto álbum en solitario, “Private Dancer”, que fue un auténtico éxito y un impresionante chute revitalizante para la carrera musical de Tina.

Dentro de este disco, tenemos joyas como “What’s Love Got To Do With It” (número 1 por tres semanas y parodiada por los humoristas “Martes y Trece”, “Private Dancer” (escrita por Mark Knopfler), “I Can’t Stand The Rain” o “Better be good to me“.
